During our recent adventure onboard Ambai to Misool Island in Raja Ampat, we were lucky enough to be greeted by one of the ocean’s most friendly and playful creatures. The weather was perfect, with clear blue skies above and crystal-clear visibility below the waves.

As we sank into the warm water, we knew we were in for a treat, but we still amazed with the ocean friends that come closer to us!
We know that Misool is famous for being one of the best diving spots in the entire world. When you dip below the surface, you are entering a vibrant world filled with healthy, colorful coral reefs.
It is home to thousands of incredible marine animals, from giant Manta Rays and unique Wobbegong sharks to playful dolphins.
However, spotting these larger ocean animals is never guaranteed. Because the ocean is vast and these creatures usually prefer to stay away from busy human areas, meeting them often comes down to pure luck. You must be in the right place at the exactly the right time.
Our lucky moment happened near a Bagan. It is a traditional floating wooden platform used by local fishermen. At night, the fishermen turn on bright lights that shine into the dark water. These lights attract huge swarms of tiny fish, known as silversides.
Where there are small fish, the bigger animals are sure to follow! The bright lights and the swirling schools of silversides turned the water under the Bagan into a midnight buffet for wild dolphins.
We watched in awe as the dolphins arrived for feast. They didn't just eat; they danced, chased each other, and playfully swam through the silver clouds of fish right in front of our eyes.
Seeing these beautiful dolphins playing around a fishing platform challenged the idea that human activity always chases wildlife away. Instead, the floating Bagan created a haven for tiny fish, which in turn brought the dolphins closer to us.
This wonderful moment showed that we can share the ocean with nature in perfect harmony when we act respectfully. Ultimately, our unforgettable dive in Misool proved that protecting our oceans will continue to reward us with friendly greetings and lifelong memories.
